What did you find intriguing about this book?

“Right now, on this beautiful planet that values peace, something small yet powerful is surely beginning to sprout," is the perfect way to describe this well-done coming of age story in the manga adaption of Claudia Gray's novel of the same name. A nicely done color segment recaps events of Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith then takes us to Alderaan to meet the now sixteen-year-old Princess Leia. As the daughter of Breha and Bail Organa, Leia must undertake three challenges to claim her right to the throne. These three challenges keep the reader engaged: on a humanitarian mission, Leia learns about loopholes when it comes to skirting around Empire regulations, pathfinding on a mountain trek challenges Leia’s leadership skills and the intrigues of Apprentice Legislature in the Imperial Senate pull Leia deeper into the mystery of the Rebellion. Whether you are a long-time fan of Star Wars or new to the franchise, this Princess Leia coming of age shows the young heroine struggling with what it means to be a princess in a galaxy ruled by Emperor Palpatine. Without spoiling anything, know that this volume ends on a major cliffhanger that will leave the reader anticipating Volume 2 (or picking up Ms. Gray's novel published in 2017).
